Oh My Valentine's Day

Top 3 choices for Valentine's Day

It’s officially the month of love and that big red “V” day is fast approaching. A few of us are already on a hype around what to do for our loved ones on this special day. Yup you heard right, Valentine’s day is not just about treating that special someone in your life but also doing something extra special for the one’s you value most like family and close friends.
Well, in my opinion Valentine ’s  Day should be celebrated all year long but that’s just me.
I can’t seem to decide between a few ideas I have in mind and thought “let me share them with my readers”, it might just inspire me to go with one of them.

These are my top three choices.

1. Valentine’s day movie & picnic at Spier Wine farm in Stellenbosch

This is ideal for your special someone. A picnic for on the sprawling greens at Spier Wine Farm. Select a spot and tuck into a picnic basket chock-full of fresh and free-range fare. Snuggle up to watch Sleepless in Seattle under the stars, sip your complimentary bottle of Signature MCC and whisper sweet nothings beneath the light of the moon.

The valentine’s day basket at Spier Wine farm in Stellenbosch includes:
  • A Spier Signature MCC
  • Crispy baguette with farm butter, olive oil and balsamic vinegar
  • Dalewood cheese selection with fruit preserve, chutney and homemade crackers
  • Garlic roasted chickpea humus with paprika and lemon oil
  • Smoked trout pate roulade with citrus mayo, soy caviar and edible flowers
  • Baby potato and biltong salad with mustard, onion, parmesan and olive oil
  • Free-range charcuterie selection with pickle and wholegrain mustard
  • Rare roast Spier grass-fed beef with pickled mushrooms, horseradish, confit tomatoes and micro salad
  • Belgian couverture chocolate truffles
  • Lemon cheesecake mousse with fresh berries

This lovely experience costs R500 per couple. To book, visit www.webtickets.co.za the picnic can be collected at 6pm and the movie starts at 8pm.

2. Valentine’s day at the Village Idiot (I love the name of this place)

If you dare to be different on Sunday, 14 February 2016 then spend your Valentine’s Day at The Village Idiot! Break the rules a little, and enjoy your romantic day by embracing the unconventional with the Village Idiot’s meal specials. Situated on Loop Street, this restaurant and bar offers the perfect escape from traditional romance and invites you to gather a gang, spread the love and chill out. If you’re a foodie, then this is the place to be as you can sink your teeth into one of three meal specials. Bite down into biltong gazpacho, finished with sliced biltong and tempura parsley, or treat your other half or loved ones to a lamb rack with whole-grain mustard sauce. Satisfy a sweet tooth craving with a dessert of berry, meringue and vanilla cream Eton. If you feel like going all out, express your love by purchasing all three meal options for a truly intense and complete Valentine's Day. After all, it doesn’t matter if they’re an idiot; all that matters is that they're your idiot.

3. Do something memorable for your family
The objective of spending time with your family is to create lifelong memories; therefore you could literally do anything you know your family would enjoy. Be it going to the beach, taking a drive around the peninsula or even going for a picnic with a home cooked meal (you will have too cook their favorite meal o cause). Any family would highly appreciate something in the lines of this.

So, option 1, 2 or 3???
